Hanging with the Living Legends of Hip-Hop

I met some really cool, chill down to earth people this past weekend. I guess I thought that they were going to be different because they are famous and in the limelight. We had a Legends of Hip-Hop concert (Tone-Loc, Digital Underground (much love to Pac), Naughty by Nature and Coolio) here last weekend and I was invited because a friend of mine is a good friend of a few of the performers. So I get as dressed up (in order to be comfortable) as I was going to get after I got home from work and head out. We get to the concert and someone comes to get us and the gate with some passes. We go in and go back stage and I get to meet Mr. Funky Cold Medina himself and his really sexy (at least to me) compadre Puba (sp?). We go back to the front and find us a seat where we can see the stage and everyone else. *Wink* brings us a few Coronas each and we just sit back and enjoy the concert.

So as NbN finishes, T comes out to where we are sitting and it’s getting dark. When TL was performing, my friend got a shout out from the stage and you know of course-all eyes were on her. So, alot of people are coming up to her all excited because SHE got a shout out. Y'all need to go sit ya asses down somewhere and get out of peoples face, lol!! The funny thing is that when T came out to chill with us, nobody saw him. I guess because the sun had gone down. Way to be in cog-negro T!! We then go back to the back stage area because its time to roll out. I keep my cool and don't act like a crazy ass person who has never seen rappers or stars before:

1.) I don't act like that. What’s the point?
2.) I don’t think that would have been appreciated, and
3.) It was neither the time nor the place, but still I don't act like that.

I get pictures with the sexy compadre (also got his autograph), Coolio, and Shock-G. I compliment them all because I think they truly are icons and Legends of Hip-Hop. I grew up listening to their music, (at times when I wasn’t supposed to be listening to it) and I was excited to be able to actually see them and hear their music live and in living color. I was really impressed during the Digital Underground set when Shock got on the keyboard and started to showcase his other musical talents. That man can play his ass off!!! Anyway, I digress. I was really excited to be in the company of some of the most talented and influential people in the music industry.

We leave the concert and head back to the hotel, were we wait on another friend to come join us. We freshen up and go on upstairs to one of the performers rooms. We take a few pics, laugh, clown, smoke and leave. We go to a club here and have some drinks and take more pictures. Because of where I reside, liquor cannot be served after 2am. That’s some whack bullshit. So as we are leaving, we are just standing around talking and laughing. We leave, they leave and me and my girls contemplated going back to the hotel. We didn’t and we should have. Ah well. It'll happen again.

I had fun and to be in the company of some of the greatest Legends was a thrill. If any of them ever read this, I want to say,

"Thank you to you all for letting me hang out with you and treating me like a friend. Let's do it again one day."

Peace.
